A wonderful way to remember the day Walnut Grove was established and by whom.  The citizens who lived there proudly displayed this sign so that when they came to town for church, school, or to run their errands, they would be reminded of their founder, Lars Hanson, and the year Walnut Grove was born.  Although the town was destroyed, the sign remained standing.  As Reverend Alden said, "Walnut Grove did not die in vain"!
